Today was (outside of Gotcha Day!) our best day in Hunan! We spent a cold morning at the large, Martyrs Park. This is unlike anything we have in the US, well, maybe like Central Park in NYC....anyway....people were everywhere, singing, dancing, doing exercises, playing games. Jay got to play badminton with a local! There was a koi pond with thousands of fish, and a small amusement park (Jay called it Six Flags over Hunan!). We are definitely a spectacle here! People of all ages come up to us and ask questions, take our picture, or try out their English on us. Most are very curious about why we have a Chinese baby with us as they are, in large part, unaware of the orphanages and the plight of orphans. Some say, "lucky baby" and others are worried that she will not fit in in America (our guide obviously translates:) One woman came up and seemed almost defencive as to why we had her....our guide told her that Ashley was our biological child! HA! The lady said Avery looked like me but Ashley did not and our guide shooed her away.
We had a wonderful morning and an amazing lunch!! The food here is sooo good, soooooo much better than in Beijing! We ate and ate at lunch. It was a bittersweet day as I am beginning to feel sad that Ashley will be gone from this place soon and who knows when she'll return. It's a torn feeling really. Over the last few days we've gotten to see much more of Changsha and you can feel the darkness here. The people are so lost. Our hearts are turning to them and although we cannot wait to get to GZ and HOME, we realize Ashley is leaving so little, but so much behind.

Em, I'm sure it will be so neat to share these pictures/memories with Ashley when she gets older. I love that God is giving you a heart for these people. That is a blessing. I am always up late at night, so I love to check for updates on y'all! Love ya!
Amazing God is really working on you heart for the people and the country. He has a plan for everything and who knows maybe you will be back there sooner than you know!!! We adopted from South Africa and now we live here!!!! Hahaha!
I am always praying for you and your family even if we have never met, God has really put you on my heart and I will continue to pray.
Enjoy you last couple of days and eat LOTS!!!!!
God Bless.
Em- That picture of Avery on the swings with all of the Chinese kids behind her is like a "Where's Waldo" picture. I'm glad that you are having a much better time and I'm really glad that the food is better :). Continue to have faith. You know as well as I do that it is what has gotten you this far and it will continue to get you through the days ahead. Realize that everyone is praying for you guys and just continue to count down the days until your whole family gets to reunite. We love you guys!

Wow! I'm amazed at how the Lord is working in your lives. I hope Beth & Jason are reading these posts. You will have so much to show and tell Ashley someday, and she'll love hearing it over and over again. AS & AD went home with Kat & Ty last night, and this a.m. she said they did great. No problem going to bed...slept together in guest bed...went to sleep w/ a movie on! She'll meet your mom & Stephen at Cracker Barrel in West Memphis at 11 a.m. I'm enjoying thinking back over the days that we had them and all the cute things they said and did. Funny girls!! I love AD's way of saying, "bippee up" for "zip it up!" AS went through all her vowel & consonant sounds for me yesterday and did a great job! The pictures today are fabulous! Love y'all, Nana
