Medical and shopping!

This morning we headed out to Shamian Island for the kids medical exams and some shopping! It was another beautiful day and feels like Spring! Ashley did fine with the medical...a joke really...they play a note on a key board and if the child looks at the keyboard, they say they have perfect hearing! She was weighed and measured as well and had her temp. taken.

Afterwards we had a few hours to walk around the island and shop! FUN! We got some goodies and met some great people that run the shops. All that shopping must have tuckered Ashley out!On the way back to the bus, we found this restaurant that had animals for sale that they would cook for you...lunch anyone??? The smell was overwhelming,I only stayed in there about 3 minutes. Jay actually watched them kill the alligator....uggg. The picture of Avery was taken with one of the many brides we saw having pictures made on the Island...it really is an amazing place for pictures!

The night ended with a pizza party in the hallway! It was yummy but the fellowship was even better than the food. Ashley and the other kids are really opening up, learning English and doing so well...it's such a "God thing" to watch! We have really made some wonderful friends on this trip and look forward to following these families for a long time.
(pictures came up backwards and I'm too tired to fix them!! Sorry!)

Emily, you are way too quick at posting! It's been great getting to know "y'all" better. Can't wait for shopping together in the morning. Jay, thanks for picking up the pizzas!

I had a good laugh at a few of your photo! The croc tail was great! and the bride one, too funny. when we were in Aisa (thailand, Phil and singapore) there were bridal parties EVERY where haveing photos taken. What made me laugh was they were happy for members of the public to jump in with them.....I would go nuts if some one tried to do that on my wedding day!
I am so glad that you are forming friendships and that Ashley is opening up. God is so good.

Emily,

I have so enjoyed following your family's journey to China. We are hoping to travel next month and watching you has made us even more ready to experience it all (except for some of the food stuff :).

Thanks for letting us share in such a special time.

Shopping!! That's a word that will eventually make Jay cringe being he'll have 5 girls with their hands in his pocket. :)

I just want you to know that I have so enjoyed tagging along this journey of yours through modern technology. It has allowed us to fall in love with Ashley even before we actually meet her. We have laughed, cried and celebrated with ya'll over these days and it has been amazing! You've opened our eyes to foreign adoption and now we know how to pray for these children and the country they live in.

I'm jealous though.........I wish Tammy Nowack was begging to take my kids pictures and save me a sitting fee. LOL :) I love her work and one day I'm going to scrape up all my pennies and get her to take pictures of all 6 of my babies.

WOOOHOO...........you're coming home soon!!! We're praying for your long journey home to be safe, uneventful, and to fly by quickly. For Ashley & Avery to sleep and not to be fearful of the plane. Hurry home to "God's country" the good ole "gnat city"

Dear Avery,
You have been a true blessing to your parents and Ashley on this trip! God has used you to help Ashley feel comfortable with her new family. You know kids relate better to other kids and you made her feel comfortable enough to accept the big people who are now her mommy and daddy. I don't think they could have made it without you!
I'm sure you will never forget this trip to China. You might even return when you're older and adopt a baby :)
We love you & can't wait to see you.

As always love the pics which are beautiful. Talent combined with good looking subjects = wow. Sounds like your Island trip was more of an adventure than ours. Of course, the highlight of our day was being interviewed on Guangzhou television and hearing Scary B in the background from our dear friend Jay.

Avery - anytime you are ready to try out your sword - Chloe is ready and will show you the moves she learned out on the Island

Dear Emily & Jay,

I echo Dean'Na's words...there has been much laughter and some tears as we have had the awesome opportunity to share your first days with your new daughter! To God be the glory great things He has done! Please tell Avery that Ms. Blake is sooooo proud of her!
From the beginning of time, God's plan for a sweet little baby named Hao Hao always included AVERY! She was destined to be Ashley's sister!
So awesome! And the pictures show she is doing a great job! Prayers for safety as you journey home!!! We love you and miss you! See you all soon! BTW, I think Ashley and Mia have the same hair stylist!!! :D

How awesome it has been to just follow the journey that you have been on the last week and a half. I have sat at my computer and cried and I have laughed and I have enjoyed all the stories and pictures.
I am praying for the next few days ahead that they will be smooth and that the long trip will seem so short when it is done. I pray God will give you safety, protection, ease, and enough entertainment for Ashley and Avery that time seems quick. God is walking every step in front of you and has your path laid out.
Enjoy your last few days there and wow what this weekend will hold with Ally and Analyse getting to meet their sister too. They will be so excited, and there will not be a moment of quietness in that house for awhile-what a sweet sound.
Avery, you have done a great job taking care of Ashley and I know she is so glad you are there. I know your mom and dad are too. Justin says that he hopes your plane ride is quick, he does not like plane rides because of his ears popping, so he said to tell you to make sure you chew lots of gum. Not long and you will be back at school and have so many stories to tell your friends.
Jay, shopping, oh my, just wait a few more years when they all want a certain style of clothing and a certain style of music and all the goodies that go along with girls. The fun has yet to begin :)
Have a safe trip, and know we are praying every day here.

Emily, I'm enjoying your blog even though I'm right here in China with you. How did we miss the pizza party last night??? No one told us about it! Looks like fun. Can't believe we only have two more full days.
