It's Sunday morning here and we're just relaxing a little before church. Jay wanted me to post a few more pictures from yesterday (we took about 120:).
First off, our dinner last night. Actually looks a lot more appetizing on the pic than it was. This is why we are so hungry for breakfast in the morning! The second was one of the dozens of huge pots that they kept water in at the Forbidden City. Avery's there to show you how big they actually were. Then the food vendors are everywhere! The sweet potatoes were being cooked in a metal garbage can on wheels.....anyone hungry? Lastly, the Olympic sites...the cube and the birds nest. We didn't get to tour these but drove around the Olympic village to get pics. Sports here is viewed totally different than the US....I asked the guide what they used the Cube for now....he said, "Nothing....you can't do sports everyday, you know!" HAHA! The Chinese government spent hundreds of billions on this stuff and here it sits.
**Also, i'm going to take the lock off on anonymous comments....so if you want to comment, please just leave your name after it...but no need to join blogger just for this....sorry De'na! Also, thanks Julie and Pam for your comments for Avery..she said to me..did I get anymore email??!! She loved getting the little "hugs" from home as much as we do! Keep them coming!

Enjoying your journey to your little one. It brings back so many memories. We became a forver family 4 years ago today. It seems like yesterday.
Looking forward to reading more posts & can't wait to see pictures, especially of Gotcha Day!
Avery that pot is soooo big! I'm glad you took that coat that I got for you. Hope it is keeping you warm! Do you like the food? It looks funny in the picture. It doesn't look like stuff we eat at home! I can't wait to talk to you in the morning (morning for me)..it's fun to see you on the computer. I feel like I'm talking to you at your house!I know you can't wait to see Ashley. Nammy is getting soooo excited. I love you sweetie. You sure are a good traveler. Maybe someday you and I can take a trip together, but not to China. It's toooo far! I love you
your Nammy
Hey Jay, you wrangled any eel yet? yum...:)
Ally Boo and Lysey were great today and watched Dora with Daly the whole way to Birmingham with minimal fussing.:) Ally is excited about getting her nails done with Nana.
Annalyse was just happy to be included with the big girls. We'd say, "Annalyse, Where's mama?" She'd say, "mama, china, daddy china, avee china." What are they bringing you back? "Prizes," she'd say. Okay, "WHO are they bringing back." "Ashee!" Love yall, praying for you!! -Amberly
I remember those big pots!!! And the food is always an adventure!!
OK, so are you guys missing some good beans and cornbread right now??? Yeah, we didn't care much for the food in Beijing either, but we REALLY enjoyed the food in the other provinces. Hang in there but don't hold out for any white beans and cornbread!!!
I am just assuming since y'all like that stuff too!!! BTW, I agree with Denise. Let's get this TRIP going with some BABIES!!!
Avery, you are quite the world traveler. If you survived the touring of the square, city and wall, you can manage the rest quite well! It was a ton of walking!!!
Well it is Sunday morning by now, so TOMORROW is the big day! Can't wait to stay up late tomorrow night and go blog surfing for some more AWAA babies with their families!
So very ecited and will be checking in dauly!!! Can NOT wait for Gaotch day post!

Love seeing the pics and Avery, too! She is so cute! We are praying for you guys. Twice today Annika has prayed for you. I am not fully sure of what all she said, but I heard God, Emily, Ashley, family, help them, thank you, and amen. It was very sweet. Can't wait to see Ashley in your arms!!! So you have one more full day and then get her the next? You get her on Tues? Sorry about the food. I am not sure I could survive outside the US. I guess I'd have to live on granola bars. Hope you find something more yummy soon! Take care!
Ok, I see. I think you get to hug that sweet girl on Mon. not Tues. I will just keep checking back! :)
Lysie and Ally were so sweet! We went to eat Mexiden with Chris on his last night. They ate alot!! I really missed them after they left for B'ham. We talked about you guys alot and Ally loved taking the links off the chain. I love the pictures! I can't wait to see pictures of Ashley. Tell Avery we love getting to see her in the pictures having fun! WE are praying for you! have fun!

So, Emily, is your sleep schedule adjusted yet? Thank you for sharing your pics and letting us all in on such a special family experience. I think of you all often and lift up a prayer.
Avery, did you get to go to church in English, or was it in Chinese? I have heard that blondes get rock-star treatment in China; have strangers been taking your picture? Do they take pictures of your Mom & Dad too? I am so excited that you get to meet your new sister soon. I know you will be a blessing to Ashley, and that she will be a blessing to you. I hope you will introduce me to her when you get back to Albany.
Jay, your Rebs looked pretty good against the Gators today, especially considering all the injuries. Hope the church service goes (went?) well.
Love you all, David & Amanda
Hi... Just one of your fellow awaaers just checken it to see how's everything is going. Looks pretty good. Glad y'all are doing well and can't wait to take your place:)

We are having fun with the little girls. Got them from Amberly & Matthew & Daly at Hamburger Heaven...ate there...they ate lots of chicken & fries. Got home around 6...had baths...they loved seeing y'all and hearing your voices on the computer. Lyse, especially, and Ally was a bit preoccupied, but she responded very politely when you talked to her. They ate pb&j sandwiches, chips and ranch, milk (choc for AS) for dinner! Sorry! Both went to bed perfectly. AD first around 7:30, but I let AS stay up about another hr. to give AD time to go to sleep...but I don't think it took AD long at all. When I put her in bed she said, "pillow" so I gave her one. She said "thank you" and went right down. Very sweet. When I put AS down, she whispered, "Please rub my back and sing to me." Told her if I sang it might wake up AD, so I just rubbed her back. She went to sleep quickly. Oh, AS did the greatest job of brushing her teeth. I was impressed and she was proud...said her "parents didn't know she could do so well!" She's also using her best manners! Oh, we also read books in the den before bedtime. Will do my best, again, to have camera (or another computer) so you can see and hear them tomorrow night. Very tired here, too. Love to all of you. The pics are great..especially of the blond celeb!! Give her hugs from N & P.
Hi Emily,
Just another AWAA mom back in the states waiting for a TA and enjoying watching your journey. I hope to be following in your footsteps soon!
Can't wait to see your little one!

I am so excited for you I can hardly stand it!!!!! You are all in my thoughts & prayers tonight as I close my eyes to sleep. I will anxiously be checking tomorrow for more! Love you!
Can't believe I am going to add to your comment total! Thanks for the pizza and the fun today. I have five super fun pictures of the runaway hat. I will forward them to you. Jay - if you can post a comment on our blog about the runaway hat - we would be forever in side splitting laughter. Avery - thanks for being a great friend to Chloe and Emily - thanks for keeping it real with your stories.

Diane & Madeline
Hey Avery, Ricky and Lia love seeing all the pictures of you! Lia jumped up and down and said, "Avery is in China!! Is Avery older than me?".
Enjoying watching your journey....can't wait to see your newest addition! :)
Keep posting pictures!
We are so excited for you. We all prayed for you today as everyday but prayed especially for Ashley, that she will sense the love, and know inside that she is so wanted. God will be with you all and show up so big as He has already. I am so excited, I can't wait to hear all the stories of the day. Emily I know you are just overwhelmed with what the next day will hold. We will keep praying!!
Avery: Justin says he sure wishes he could miss school for two weeks and go to China!!! He says to tell you hello and have a safe time. I know you can't wait to see that new little sister. I know you will be a great help to your mom and dad the next days ahead. I would love to be able to visit China, it would be so neat. But I know you are ready to have some Spaghetti, chicken nuggets and other goodies when you come home :) We are all praying for your family, and can't wait to hear all your stories when you come home. You just have to write down some things so when you get older you can read them to Ashley and tell her about your trip with her.
Jay, I read about the sports not being able to be played everyday, and thought, oh, you know God will never call you to China huh? I am praying for you guys, and know you are so ready to hold that little girl.
Take care all of you, and know that we are thinking of you!!
