day 2...It's Official!

In the eyes of the Government it's official! We had another appointment at the CA office today where we promised to never leave her and stamped our fingers (and her foot) in ink! We headed to the store to get her a stroller (this child is tooo heavy for the sling:) and some diapers, then back to the hotel to Skpye with the girls and order Pizza Hut. She went down for a nap and I am about to do the same, while Avery and Jay hit the pool. We got (or rather Avery got) her to smile and almost laugh today!

EM. Hang in there sweetie...your journey (at least in china) is almost over. You will be home very soon (even though it doesnt seem it) w/ all 4 of your girls. As much as u miss the 2 back here try to enjoy the somewhat "quite time" you have w/ ashley (and avery) while you are there. I am sure when you get back home things wont be so "quite". God gave ya'll the strengh to endure many many months of waiting..he has not left you..he will see you through the end and the next 4-10 days will soon just be a momeory. Love u and that beautiful smiling baby girl! :)

She really is so beautiful Emily. What a gift.
And for the 10 days left in China....what a gift that you can give to Ashley. 10 Days to sear the memories of China into your head....10 days to remember every smell, to store away every sound, every landmark. 10 days to take the pictures of China that will be treasured by Ashley one day. 10 days to journal about her humble beginnings, to soak up every memory of her homeland so that you can tell her all about it one day.
Enjoy every minute! It will fly by and be gone before you know it. :)

The pictures are beautiful. We keep checking back for more, we are so excited to see her. Keep your chin up and remember He is there and He is in control of time, and before you know it you will be home. Remember He walks ahead of you.
Avery, you did a great job with Ashley making her smile, you are already being a great big sister to her.
Praying for you all, Angie Estes

Avery- how did you get her to smile? You are awesome! I love seeing Ashley's smile and how fun to know you are the first to bring one to her face.
Emily,
I know 10 days can seem like an eternity, but hang in there. We will pray that they will fly by and that God will use this time for you guys to really bond together and maybe get caught up on some sleep- if at all possible. It probably will help Ashley to adjust seeing a culture that is familiar to her for a little and then you can bring her home and introduce her to the south! Woohoo! She is so beautiful and you guys have done a wonderful thing- giving her a life she would have never had and a wonderful loving family- where she will get to know JESUS! Take care!

I agree with Allison J., I love seeing her smile!! Great job Avery! I know you guys are doing a great job with her. Praying for your endurance today! We'll Skype soon. Post on the WDW blog some thoughts on when we all might could do that with you.

What an awesome smile! Everyday you will begin to see that more and more. I rejoice with you. God will use the "MEANtime" to bring you all closer together. With all that time in country, Ashley will surely have a great start on transfering her attachment to her mommy, daddy and big sister. It is PRIME bonding time! Much easier on Ashley to adjust to things a little along. Once you hit the states and nothing is familiar to her..at least you will be. Find the delight in each day. Absorb all you can of her homeland. She will treasure that before you know it. We love you and are lifting you up.
Hugs,

I may be crazy, but I swear that in the picture of her smiling there is some resemblance between her and Avery! I am praying that these days fly by and you will have all of your girls together soon!

Way to go Avery!!!As my Kayla would say "you're the bomb.com" LOL
Did I read that you went swimming?
I thought it was freezing!
Can't wait to hear about your time in China.

Emily,
Ashley looks a little bit more comfortable in the pictures....I love the pictures of her sleeping peacefully, and of her smiling/playing with Avery, and stamping her foot! I love them all!

As far as you being homesick, know that my "homebody" heart is going out to you and my prayers are being sent up! You've accomplished more than I would have ever been able to do :) I'm proud of you!

I know when ya'll return you will be rather overwhelmed by everybody wanting to see her and hear about your trip, so PLEASE tell me if there is anything I can do to help you out! Who's planning meals for ya'll?

How is Jay?
LOVE YOU GUYS!!! XOXO

Emily,

I do know how you feel! When I traveled with my sister when she adopted, we were by ourselves. At least we did have each other there but it was very lonely and we found that we didn't venture out as much. But we are still thankful for the time in Abby's province - to learn as much as we could. It will go by and before long, you will be facing the long flight home! We're still praying here!
