August Update

OK so many of you have emailed me about an update so here it is! About two weeks ago, we got a call from Melissa B from AWAA. She will be our Family Coordinator and assist us throughout this entire process, start to finish. She will, I am sure, be tired of all our phone calls and questions, but such is her job! We have begun our home study with Open Door Adoptions, in thomassville, GA. We are sending in intital paperwork this week and should start our meetings with her soon. China requires 4 face -to- face meetings. Also, we'll begin the paper chase! That means we'll be compiling all the (dozens) of documents that we need...and being fingerprinted by the local police and the Department of Homeland Security. We're hoping to be (Lord willing) done with this phase by late October.

Please be in prayer for the following things:
1. Ashley: That she is being well taken care of and safe. That she is healthy and strong and happy.
2. Our home study: That we'll be diligent in compiling all the documents, that our Home Study will go off without a hitch and that everything will go smoothly.
3. Finances. We are so dependant on the Lord to provide the money we need to move forward. Please pray that we would be patient in waiting for Him to provide. Pray for people to give as the Lord leads.
4. We have applied for a grant through the National Adoption Foundation. Please pray they find favor and that we will receive some assistance through the NAF.
5. For us that we will be advocates for God's plan of adoption with fellow believers. Since we started this process, TWO families we know have called to tell us that after reading about Ashley and this process, they have felt the call to adopt internationally!!!!!!!!! PRAISE JESUS!!

Thanks so much for your prayers!! We are anxious and excited about what the future holds but we know Who holds the future!
We love you all!!

Special Needs Approval!

We recieved an email today that our application for a Special Needs child has been approved! This means that we are on a list of about 80-100 families that are willing to review files of SN kids that our agency recieves. They receive about 20-40 children every two months. We were able to go down a list of needs and indicate wether or not we would review a child with each particular need. Once the agency recieves the lists, they compare it with our lists, and then we are matched with a child. We have a few days to review the file, take it to our doctor, and let the agency know if we are interested in adopting the child.
One step closer!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks SOOOOO much for all of you who prayed! We got several phone calls and emails that you were praying! The grand total was....

896.00!!!!!!!!!!

God really answered your prayers...we had great weather, good turn out and were able to talk with a few families about adoption!!! Several people gave to our donation box and were interested in the process we are going through. We still need about 600.00 to complete our home study process so please be in prayer for those funds. Each dollar gets us that much closer to bringing Ashley home so we are truly very grateful for every penny.

God is GOOD!

PRAYER REQUEST!

If you check in on us before Friday, please be in prayer for our Yard Sale! We're having a two day HUGE sale to raise the funds we need for our Home Study. We need to raise 1500.00!! We've had several friends (7 total families) donate things including furniture, a swing set and many boxes of great stuff. We'll be showing a video that will run continuously about the plight of China's orphans, and out a donation box as well. We are believing God for a great turn out!
Please specifically pray for:
1.) 1500.00 total sales/donations
2.) many people would come out
3.) good weather...no rain!
4.) the Lord would touch someone's heart and lead them to adopt a child

Thank you in advance for all your prayers....please check back Saturday night for the results!

Name Change!

We are considering changing the spelling of her name to Ashley. We are trying to be sensitive to the fact that she will probably want an American name and spelling like her sisters SO we'll let you know.

Some of you have asked where we are at this point. Currently, we are getting ready to send our final contracts in to AWAA along with our first payment. We have contacted Lutheran Family Services to do our Home Study and hopefully that will begin in July. We're going slow and being very patient....well, most days :)

We're having a big Yard Sale and bake sale on July 7th to raise funds for our Home Study. We need a total of $1500 dollars. God has already laid it on the hearts of THREE families to donate stuff to help us out so we are very excited about this day. Please be in prayer for this important day, and that more families would send us their junk!

We've also been getting prayer cards in the mail written by church members. They are so sweet and many days provide the encouragement we need to move ahead. It's so humbling to see how this process will be used by God to draw people in worship to Him. I am so amazed to see how He provides for every need we have, in HIS time. Most days I feel very unworthy of this gift that He is giving to us. OK, it's getting emotional so I'll quit!

Baby Girl

Baby Ashlei

Tonight was an emotional night at our house. Most days I do well thinking about you and keeping my emotions under control. When I think about how long it's going to take to get to you, I'm sometimes overwhelmed. I'm really praying that you aren;t even born yet, so that when we do come and take you home, you won;t have spent so much time in the orphanage. I was putting your older two sisters to bed and they wanted me to rub their backs and sing to them. Daddy was in the living room rocking Annalyse to sleep. I was so overwhelmed with the fact that someone else might be putting you to bed. At our house, we don;t let our babies cry themselves to sleep very often. One of daddy's favorite things to do is rock his girls to sleep. It breaks my heart to think you are crying yourself to sleep at night. We promise to never let you do that. Daddy and I talked about you a lot tonight and he can;t wait to let you fall asleep on him on the couch. We are praying that someone is taking good care of you while you wait for us. We know that God is watching over you and preparing your heart for us. Goodnight, baby girl.
